We California's top experts in rodent control. We are not a typical Fresno rat removal or pest control company. We don't treat rats or mice like insects, because they are not - they are mammals! You can't just use poison to get rid of them, like you can with insects. Unlike most Fresno pest control, we focus on complete and permanent solutions. We don't just use poison every month. We solve your rodent problem forever, by following these steps:
- Inspect the entire house, ground to roof, and the attic
- Seal shut all entry areas, no matter how small, with steel
- Set a dozen or more rat or mouse traps in the house and attic
- Remove all rodents as they are caught and monitor for activity
- Once there is no more activity and no more caught, we're done
- When necessary, we clean rodent droppings, replace insulation, and repair chewed electric wires
Fresno Rodent Removal Tip:
Why glue traps are an inhumane option for rats
The last thing you want to discover, as a homeowner in the United States (or anywhere else in the world, really), is that a rat has made a nest on your property. And who knows, maybe it's even brought its whole family along!
What are some of the dangers of rats?
Many people carry a largely unfounded terror of these poor rodents. Tales of rats lashing out at people, particularly at small children, abound and contribute heavily to this fear that most people have of rats. And while that does happen in some cases, those are fairly few and far in between. Rats generally don't hurt you unless they see no other choice, and would much rather prefer flight than fight.
That being said, the largest threat to your wellbeing that comes from rats is to do with the various bacteria and diseases they carry. Famously, rats were responsible for propagating the Black Death, and to this day continue to be some of the most notorious bringers of disease. This is why you should get them out of the house as soon as possible.
But how?
A popular option for catching rats seems to be the glue trap. As the name suggests, the glue trap is essentially a platform covered in glue, that the rat has to step through at one point or another, and naturally get stuck in the glue. The reason people prefer this to the traditional snap trap is that it's quite cheap, though less gruesome. Or so they think.
Glue traps, however, are as horrible and inhumane as snap traps, if not more.
The first argument for this would be that death takes hours, or even days for the poor rodent. Since the glue used in these contraptions is non-toxic, you can't expect the rat to die of poisoning, and instead, it must spend the remainder of its life stuck there, waiting to die of starvation or dehydration.
As the animal struggles to tear itself free, the desperate movements can easily cause it to tear fur and even break its own bones in an attempt to escape. What's more, several rats, when trapped in a glue trap, have been known to chew their leg off in order to escape.
Did you know…
Several homeowners who use glue traps to get rid of their rat problem end up at a hospital or a vet's office, with the poor trapped rodent, remorseful for what they did. You may think that a glue trap is less horrible than a snap trap, but when you think about it, that's not true at all.
When it works properly, a snap trap severs the rat's spine and causes it to die quickly and easily. A glue trap, on the other hand, keeps it in agony for days on end, and could easily be qualified as rat torture. So if you're intent on killing the rodent that's running mayhem in your home, we urge you to use snap traps, and never ever resort to glue traps.
Consider humane alternatives.
Killing the rat that's put the heebie-jeebies into you and yours is a natural response, generated by the disgust and fear one feels when one encounters a rodent. But there are other, far more humane options for getting rid of a pesky rat.
Live traps are basically cages with a similar mechanism to snap traps, only when the rat steps on the pressure plate, it causes the door of the cage to fall down, trapping it inside and allowing you to transport it to a safe location where it won't bother anyone.
